Invest in Atlis Motor Vehicles
We're raising $1 million dollars to develop a working prototype of our 75T pickup truck.

To build a better future, we need to build better alternatives. We created Atlis Motor Vehicles because we believe pickup trucks are some of the most enjoyed and desired vehicles on the market, and the one vehicle that can benefit greatly from electrification. If we're going to deliver an all electric pickup truck, it must be done without compromises."

THE ELECTRIC EXPERIENCED NEEDS AN UPDATE
RETURN ON INVESTMENT TAKES A LONG TIME
Electric Vehicles are expensive. Prices start at $24,000 and are as high as $150,000. With high priced entries, returns on investment can take 3-5 years before realized.
Consumers are looking for more immediate returns when purchasing a vehicle. |
LOW RANGEL
eading electric vehicles provide average driving ranges of ~171 miles. For a pickup truck, this range would be reduced by as much as a 1/3 when fully loaded with a trailer or cargo in the bed. |
CHARGE TIMES ARE SLOWThe average charge time is 1 hour from 0 to 100%. With many options being 1.5, 2 hours, and even 8 and 12 hours time.
EV Automakers are pitching 9 minute, 15 minute, and 30 minute charges, but these only provide 100 miles, 150 miles, or 80% of available battery. |
HYBRID VS. FUEL CELL VS. BATTERY EV
Automakers are still developing hybrid and fuel cell vehicles, with no clear path forward. Such fragmentation in options is creating confusion and excessive cost in development to make EV's practical. The path with the greatest progress in innovation, and shared investment, is battery electric. The capability exist today to be competitive, you just have to go for it. |
The Economics Of Owning A Tesla Car (TSLA, TM)
In the market for a new car? Thinking about getting a hybrid to save the environment (and gas money)? Tesla (TSLA) has the car you want.
Tesla’s Model S is its most popular model, and it comes with a few options. In America, consumers have three choices of Model S that vary based on the number of motors and battery power. For this article, the Model S 85D will be used, as it is the middle option.

Initial CostThe initial cost of purchasing a Tesla Model S 85D is steep: $85 000 without options. There is a federal tax credit available worth $7,500, and California, Colorado, Georgia, Massachusetts and Utah offer state tax incentives.
The options available are pricey but feel like necessities. There’s the autopilot feature, Smart Air Suspension, and upgraded sound system, each at $2,500; higher quality finish for $5,000; Executive Rear Seats for $3,000; the Subzero Weather Package for $1,000; and two additional seats for $3,000.
Let’s add everything but the luxury finish and rear seats. Now, a car that seats seven will cost $96,500. Leasing is available – for 15,000 miles a year, the monthly charge is $1,038 without options.
The car is expensive, but the initial cost is slowly recouped over the years though savings on gas, maintenance, and intangibles like convenience.
No More Stopping For GasFirst, the biggest savings: no more expensive gas. With 100 miles using 34kWh (about 100 MPG) and electricity costing an average of $0.12/kWh, the yearly cost to drive a Tesla Model S 85D 15,000 miles is $612. Compare that to Toyota (TM) Camry’s 30 MPG and an average cost of gas of $2.40 per gallon. At 15,000 miles per year, the Camry will cost $1,200 – almost double what the Tesla Model S 85D costs. What’s more, the Model S 85D will likely cost less than $1,000 for a long time whereas oil prices change daily and could return to $4+ at any time.
Another benefit of plugging in instead of fueling up is the peace of mind that comes from knowing each morning that the vehicle is ready to go. No more planning to stop at the gas station, no more standing in the cold or smelling gasoline fumes – just plug in at night, unplug in the morning and the battery is full. (For more, see: Uncovering Oil And Gas Futures.)
Other SavingsTesla’s Model S 85D has virtually no maintenance because its electric engine has far fewer moving parts than a regular internal combustion engine. The battery is guaranteed for eight years with unlimited miles and, after that, is replaceable for $12,000. The vehicle comes with a limited warranty and $600 yearly inspections are optional.
All Model S cars financed through Tesla come with the option to sell the car back to Tesla at a fixed price at the end of the term. This price is about 46% of the purchase price or $44,390 for the Model S 85D example.
The MathLet’s add everything up. The initial cost, including all options, is $96,500. With 15% down and 2% financing over five years, the interest charges would be $4,237.87, bringing the grand total to $100,737.87.
When we apply Teslanomics (subtracting every dollar possible to lower the effective monthly payment), we can subtract $7,500 in federal tax incentive as well as the gas savings of $600 per year and an average of $400 per year on maintenance.
After five years and $100,737.87 in costs, the savings add up to $12,500. Selling the Model S 85D back to Tesla earns about $44,390 (although it could bring in more if sold on the private market), which brings the car’s net cost for five years to $43,847.87 or $730.80 per month.
The Bottom LineThe cost of a luxury sedan is about $730 a month. For the same price as a Lexus or an Audi, you can purchase a Tesla Model S and benefit from the convenience of not having to fuel up, the peace of mind and extra time that comes from not having to worry about maintenance issues like oil changes or buying new filters. Couple that with the fact that the car seats seven (or has more storage space) and its claim of having “the highest safety rating of any car ever tested” and the Tesla’s Model S is a strong economic choice for today’s consumers.

DEVELOPING ATLIS MOTOR VEHICLES
For any light to heavy duty truck, one of the most important aspects is whether or not the vehicle can meet the demanding performance expectations. How much can the vehicle tow? How much cargo can the vehicle haul in the bed? How far can the vehicle drive? How long will it take me to "fill up" when I need to? A truck that can pull 25,000 lbs, drive 100 miles, and take 60 minutes to fill up isn't practical, even if it is nice to look at and comfy on the inside. Atlis has spent a great deal of our time focused on the hard challenges; ensuring that it is possible to meet the demanding requirements that a pickup truck needs.

ATLIS MOTOR VEHICLES FAQs
ATLIS MOTOR VEHICLES FAQs
Why did you start Atlis Motor Vehicles?
We started Atlis Motor Vehicles because we own, and love pickup trucks. Our team believes that electric is the future, but doesn't believe in delivering higher priced vehicles with less performance just because the incumbents are doing it. We believe that the continuous increase in vehicle prices is causing a divergence in vehicle ownership. People who own vehicles, love their vehicles, and truck buyers LOVE their trucks. But with the recent announcements of high priced options, the lack of real effort in delivering a great electric solution, and the desire to keep prices at the appropriate price point meant someone had to step up and deliver, this is what Atlis Motor Vehicles is about.
Tesla has a large lead in electric vehicle technology, what makes you different?
Tesla definitely has a substantial lead in the market, a large team, with a tremendous amount of capital to spend. It's important to remember that competition is not scary, that we learn from both their success and failure.
Major automakers have pledged billions in investments to develop electric vehicles, how can Atlis Motor Vehicles compete?
Existing automakers, including Tesla, are following the same path for electrification of vehicles. Cylindrical and OEM provided prismatic cells, existing major battery suppliers or cell construction, low quality expectations given history of vehicles, and complex and buggy user interfaces that mirror their ICE counterparts.
While major automakers make public statements of investment into electric vehicle technologies, with pledges to develop and begin shipping 10's of vehicles in the next 5 years. Having a broad focus accross many different vehicle types and platforms can create distractions, and result in excessive spending. Existing automakers are investing heavily into battery electric, hybrid, and fuel cell technologies, while Atlis Motor Vehicles is taking a 100% battery electric approach.
Atlis Motor Vehicles is blazing a different path of vehicle architecture, focused on purpose built designs versus contracted plug and play designs. Atlis Motor Vehicles is taking a different, much faster path to customer acceptance of electric vehicle designs.

You're claiming 15 minute charge times, others are saying the technology doesn't exist, how can you make this work?
Atlis approach to all technology is simple. We start with the needs of our customer, then investigate existing technologies that are available today and what's available tomorrow. From here, we develop a solution that meets those expectations, not by bending the rules of what's possible, but by making what is possible work for us. Using this approach, Atlis Motor Vehicles has developed a battery pack solution, using off the shelf technologies available today, that achieves our goal for range, charge times, and safety.
Automakers have indicated they are making investments in rapid charging stations, how is AMV different, or how will AMV address this?
Atlis Motor Vehicles knows that other automakers will be making investments in charging technologies. However these are slow stepping tones forward, and will need to be upgraded once again when new higher power vehicles are developed. Atlis Motor Vehicles is taking different approach, we're developing a technology that should support the needs of vehicles for the next 20 years. Future generations of our charging stations may support greater power for faster charging, but will ultimately result in smaller more efficient charging stations and better power management.

Battery technology is changing rapidly, how will Atlis stay ahead of this?
By 2025, battery technology should allow for a 5 minute charge time. Atlis Motor Vehicles recognizes this reality, and our focus will be to adopt this technology as it becomes available. There is a cost versus implementation analysis the must be done. Atlis Motor Vehicles believes our vehicle can deliver a very competitive customer experience today that will only get slightly better as technology improves, versus delivering an "ok" experience today with a massive improvement tomorrow. Our approach to vehicle architecture and design is to develop a vehicle which can quickly adopt new battery technologies without the necessity to perform a complete vehicle or platform re-design. This same vehicle architecture would allow this rapid adoption approach to be available for many different vehicle technologies including but not limited to; propulsion, self driving technology, HVAC technologies, suspension and driveline technologies, towing, and beyond.
Our approach to new vehicle designs allows Atlis Motor Vehicles in constantly improve our vehicles and technology with minimal capital investments and expenses, throughout the life of a product.
Why not do battery swaps versus fast charging?
Atlis Motor Vehicles started with an idea to swap out batteries. We looked at multiple different options including pull up stations, side swapping, having a "car wash" model where the system glides the vehicle through while swapping out cells. This solution was explored in depth, but faced a number of challenges. The largest challenge of note was that vehicles come in many shapes and sizes, and trucks can tow trailers of an infinite number of shapes and sizes. The idea of using a car wash, or in ground swapping station required too many variables to align in order to make this feasible, coupled with the fact that battery charging rates and energy are accelerating in development, the idea was then abandoned.
Other automakers have tried and failed or partially succeeded to enter the pickup truck market, how will Atlis Motor Vehicles succeed?
Atlis Motor Vehicles is focused on providing the best pickup truck at the best price. Our pickup truck will be American Made, American Owned, and will beat any gas or diesel pickup truck in a side by side comparison. We're focused on keeping in line with the passion behind those that own pickup trucks. Whether the truck is used as a work truck, for some off-road adventures, taking the boat to the lake, taking the RV for a weekend camping trip, or just hauling the groceries back home.
Will Atlis Motor Vehicles need to raise more funding in the future?
Yes, Atlis Motor Vehicles will need to raise funding in the future as we work towards mass producing the Atlis Motor Vehicles XT Electric pickup truck.
Will the the Atlis Motor Vehicle's have self driving technology?
Atlis Motor Vehicles plans to include self driving capabilities with all vehicles and vehicle platforms as standard features. We are currently looking at partnerships in development of this capability to be included in all vehicles. Partnerships will allow us to reduce cost of development, and integrate with other vehicles on the road.
How will Atlis Motor Vehicles gain recognition and traction in the market?
Atlis Motor Vehicles has a plan specifically focused on utilizing new and innovative methods to build brand awareness.
Insourcing versus Outsourcing?
For the prototype stage of development, Atlis Motor Vehicles will utilize many outsourced components, solutions, and partners. This will allow us to very quickly develop and implement key features for the prototype and proof of concept vehicles.
For development of the manufacturable pickup truck manufacturing systems, as well as sustaining efforts, Atlis Motor Vehicles will ramp to an insource model, where in house expertise is developed accross many different technical engineering, marketing, and sales teams.
What is our hiring strategy?
Atlis Motor Vehicles is primarily focused on hiring technical team members to both guide and directly develop our pickup truck. Here is a very high level view of team hiring efforts.
What is the size of the battery pack?
Atlis Motor Vehicles chooses not to disclose the actual capacity of the battery pack in terms of mAh or KWh at this time. Our goal is to provide a vehicle that performs above expectations, keep cost low, and charge times at 15 minutes or less.
Why did Atlis choose battery electric versus a fuel cell powered vehicle?
Fuel cell vehicles, although almost 2x efficient when compared to a gas/diesel vehicle (source: fuel cell efficiency), the generation of hydrogen is incredibly inefficient. Only 30% of the energy used to produce hydrogen is extracted from hydrogen. (source: energy to produce hydrogen, energy density of hydrogen). This combined with the efficiency of a fuel cell, you are left with a net efficiency of ~18%, meaning that only 18% of the energy used to produce hydrogen is used to power a vehicle. Meanwhile, a battery electric vehicle is typically capable of a minimum efficiency of 58% (source: BEV efficiency)
Will the Atlis Motor Vehicles' XT pickup trucks meet all safety standards?
Yes, the Atlis Motor Vehicles T series pickup trucks are intended to meet all safety and performance standards as outlined by, but not limited to, such groups as the The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS), or the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) test and performance requirements.
When will Atlis Motor Vehicles create a board of directors?
Atlis Motor Vehicles has two different strategies for board members and advisors.
Vehicle Advisory Board
Atlis Motor Vehicles will seek out advisors who have industry experience that can assist in building relationships or finding expertise in various parts of the business. Each member of our advisory board will be someone with a specific skill set required to guide Atlis Motor Vehicles through the next phase of our business' growth.
Board of Directors
Atlis Motor Vehicles will begin seeking out board representatives upon completion of our pickup truck prototype and begin our second round of funding.
